"Can someone break down the proxy settings meaning for me? Like, what do they actually DO?"
Okay, so I’ve seen "proxy settings" pop up everywhere—browsers, apps, even my dang phone. But what’s the *actual* proxy settings meaning? Is it just some techy way to hide my IP or what?
From what I gather, it’s like a middleman between you and the internet. Cool for privacy, I guess? But also kinda slows things down sometimes.
When should I even bother changing these settings? VPNs do similar stuff, right? Or am I totally off?
Also, why do some apps override proxy settings anyway? Makes no sense.
Pls explain like I’m 5. Thx.
