Smart DNS proxy is great for speed, but it’s not universal. Works awesome on my Apple TV for Hulu, but my Fire Stick struggles.

Also, some ISPs mess with DNS, so you might need to tweak settings. I’d recommend checking out DNSBench to find the fastest server for you.

If you’re just streaming, it’s a no-brainer over VPN.
