It depends on your location and ISP.
xbox homeproxy *can* reduce ping if your ISP’s routing is trash.
But if you’re already close to servers, nah.

Try it for a week and run ping tests (use PingPlotter).
If no improvement, ditch it.

Bans? Never heard of anyone getting banned for it.
