"Why Is My SMB Server So Slow? Common Fixes and Optimizations?"
Hey all, my SMB server’s been crawling lately, and it’s driving me nuts. Files take forever to transfer, and sometimes it just hangs. Anyone else deal with this?
I’ve tried basic stuff like restarting the server and checking network cables, but no luck. Heard MTU settings might help, or maybe tweaking the SMB protocol version? Running SMBv1 still (I know, I know…) but scared to break stuff if I upgrade.
Also, could it be too many users hitting it at once? Or maybe the antivirus scanning every file?
Any quick wins or deep-dive fixes? Appreciate any tips!
