"New to networking—what is Server Message Block (SMB) used for?"
Hey everyone! So I’ve been diving into networking stuff lately and keep hearing about Server Message Block (SMB).
But like... what is Server Message Block actually? Is it just for sharing files between computers? Or does it do more?
I’ve seen it mentioned with Windows a lot, but does it work on other OS too? And how does it even *work*—like, does it just magically move files around or what?
Also, why’s it such a big deal? Seems like every tutorial brings it up when talking about file sharing.
Kinda confused, ngl. Any simple explanations or real-world examples would be awesome!
Thanks in advance!
