"Newbie question: What is SMB and why is it important?"
Hey everyone! So I keep hearing about SMB but tbh, I’m kinda lost. What is SMB exactly? Like, is it some techy thing or just a fancy acronym?
From what I gathered, it stands for Server Message Block—sounds complicated, but it’s basically how computers share files and printers over a network. Kinda like passing notes in class but for devices lol.
But why’s it important? Well, imagine trying to share docs or print stuff without it… chaos, right? SMB keeps things smooth, especially in offices or home networks.
Still, I might be missing stuff. Can someone break it down even simpler? Or maybe share how you use SMB in real life?
Thanks in advance! 🙌 (P.S. Go easy on the jargon pls.)
