If you’re not techy, Linux might be overkill for chromebook - add connection - add firefox browser. Try this:

1. Download Firefox APK from apkmirror.
2. Enable Developer mode (warning: wipes your data!).
3. Use ADB to install it.

Not ideal, but works. For wifi, try a VPN—sometimes fixes weird connection drops.
