"Newbie question: What is a proxy address used for?"
Hey everyone, kinda new to this whole networking thing and got a basic question. *what is a proxy address* exactly? Like, I get that it’s some sort of middleman between my device and the internet, but how does it *actually* work?
Does it hide my real IP? Change my location? And why would someone even need one—privacy, bypassing restrictions, or something else?
Also, how’s it different from a regular IP? Sorry if this sounds dumb, but google just gives me techy jargon and my brain glazes over lol.
Would love a simple breakdown or even real-life examples. Thanks in advance!
(PS: If there’s a "for dummies" version, I’m all ears 😅)
