Can someone explain what is a proxy address and how it works? or What is a proxy address, and why wou

Wow, thanks everyone! This makes way more sense now. I tried *KProxy* like one of you suggested, and it actually worked to unblock a site at my school (lol).

One follow-up though—how do I know if a proxy is *actually* hiding my IP? Like, is there a way to test it?

Also, are free proxies safe, or should I just pay for one?
