Subject: Newbie question: What is a proxy setting and how do I configure it?
Hey everyone,
I keep hearing about proxy settings but tbh, I'm not entirely sure what they are or how they work. Like, what is a proxy setting exactly? Is it just some fancy way to hide your IP or does it do more?
Also, why would someone even need to use one? I’ve seen folks talk about it for security or accessing blocked sites, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the hassle.
And if it *is* useful, how do you even set it up? Do you need special software or can you just tweak your browser settings?
Sorry if this is basic stuff, but google’s explanations are either too technical or too vague. Would love some simple, real-world advice!
Thanks in advance!
