Can someone explain what is a proxy setting and how it works? or What is a proxy setting and why woul

Wow, thanks for all the replies! Didn’t realize proxy settings could do so much. I tried the browser setup like some of you suggested, and it worked for accessing a blocked site at my college.

But now I’m curious—how do you know if a proxy is safe to use? Saw a few warnings about sketchy ones logging data. Are there any red flags to watch for?

Also, is there a big difference between a proxy and a VPN? Keep seeing both mentioned but not sure which one’s better for privacy.
