Which Proxy Server Port Should I Use for Optimal Performance and Security? or How Do I Choose the Rig

8080 is a solid choice for a proxy server port if you're just starting out. It's widely supported, so compatibility won't be an issue.

But yeah, it's kinda basic—some networks block it because it's so common. If you're worried about that, try 3128 or even 8888. Speed-wise, the port itself doesn’t matter much. It’s more about the proxy server setup and your network.

For tools, check out Squid Proxy—it’s great for testing different ports.
