How Accurate Is a Curl Test for Measuring Hair Health? or What Can a Curl Test Really Tell You About

The curl test is a decent starting point, but it’s not the end-all.

I’ve found that my hair reacts differently based on the season—like, it’s more porous in summer because of humidity. So the test might not always be accurate.

If you’re really curious, try the “slip test” too. Rub a strand between your fingers—if it feels rough, it’s probably high-porosity. Smooth? Low-porosity.

Also, the Hair Porosity Handbook on YouTube has some great tips beyond the curl test.
