"Proxy vs Reverse Proxy: Can Someone Break It Down Simply?"
Hey folks!
I keep hearing about proxy vs reverse proxy, but tbh, I'm still kinda confused. Like, I get that both handle traffic, but how are they *actually* different?
From what I gather:
- A proxy sits in front of *clients* (like your browser) and hides *your* IP. Great for privacy or bypassing geo-blocks.
- A reverse proxy sits in front of *servers* (like a website) and hides *their* IP. Used for load balancing, security, etc.
But like... when would you pick one over the other? And do they ever overlap?
Any real-world examples would be clutch! Thanks in advance 🙏
(Also, sorry if this has been asked a million times—I swear I searched first!)
