"Does a SOCKS VPN really hide my IP like a regular VPN?"
Hey folks, been digging into this whole SOCKS VPN thing and I'm kinda confused. Everyone says regular VPNs encrypt everything and hide your IP, but a SOCKS VPN seems... different?
From what I gather, a SOCKS VPN is faster ‘cause it doesn’t encrypt traffic, but does it *actually* hide your IP like a normal VPN? Or is it more like a fancy proxy?
Kinda torn ‘cause I want speed for streaming, but not if it means my IP’s out in the open. Anyone got real experience with this?
Also, is it even worth using a SOCKS VPN for torrenting, or am I just asking for trouble?
