"Newbie question: What is an http proxy server, and how does it help with privacy?"
Hey folks, total noob here trying to wrap my head around this stuff. So like, *what is an http proxy server* exactly? From what I gather, it’s kinda like a middleman between my device and the internet, right?
It takes my web requests, forwards them, and then sends the data back to me. But why would I need one? I’ve heard it can hide my IP, which sounds cool for privacy.
Also, does it slow things down? Or is it worth the trade-off? Any simple explanations or real-world examples would be awesome.
Thanks in advance! (and sorry if this is a dumb question lol)
