Can someone explain what are the proxy settings and how do they work? or What are the proxy settings

"Hey guys, quick question—what are the proxy settings?

I keep hearing about them but not really sure how they work. Like, do they just route your internet traffic through another server? And why would someone even need to mess with them?

Also, how do I even check or change these settings on my laptop? Tried googling but got lost in tech jargon lol.

Oh, and when *should* you use proxy settings? Is it just for privacy or are there other reasons?

Thanks in advance! (and pls explain like I’m 5 haha)"
