Oh man, I *always* start by tweaking the mac safari preferences to make it less annoying. First thing? Disable auto-play videos under Websites > Auto-Play. Nothing worse than random videos blasting at 2 AM.
Also, in Privacy, I block all cookies except for sites I trust. Yeah, it breaks some logins, but uBlock Origin handles the rest.
Pro tip: If you’re into privacy, check out Privacy Badger (extension). Works great with Safari’s built-in tracker blocking.
