"Why Would a Site Return a 410 Status Code Instead of a 404?"

Hey folks! So I’ve been digging into HTTP status codes and got stuck on the 410 status code. Like, why use it over a 404?

From what I gather, a 404 means "not found," but a 410 status code is like "GONE gone" – like, it’s not coming back, ever.

But why would a site choose 410? Is it just for SEO or something? And how do you even implement it properly?

Also, does Google treat it differently than a 404? I’ve heard mixed things.

Kinda confused, ngl. Anyone got real-world examples or tips?

Thanks in advance! 🙌
