Thanks for all the tips, folks! Ended up grabbing the ISO from Debian’s site and verified with sha256. Worked like a charm.

Still baffled why some sites make it so sketchy, but at least now I know where to go.

Torrents are next on my list—never thought of that for linux only downloads. Appreciate the heads-up!
