think of parsing like translating a foreign language into something you understand.

if you say "parse this sentence," yeah, you're breaking it into words, but also figuring out grammar, meaning, etc.

in coding, it’s the same—like when python reads `x = 5 + 3`, it parses it to know "x gets the value of 5+3."

without parsing, code would just be a bunch of random text to the computer.
