"Newbie question: What is a web proxy, exactly?"
Hey everyone, kinda confused here. I keep hearing about web proxies but don’t really get *what is a web proxy* and how it works. Like, is it just some middleman for your internet traffic?
From what I gather, a web proxy basically hides your IP by routing your requests through another server. So if you visit a site, it sees the proxy’s IP, not yours. Cool for bypassing blocks or staying kinda anonymous, I guess?
But how’s it different from a VPN? And do I *need* one? I mostly just wanna watch geo-blocked stuff lol.
Would love a simple breakdown—tech jargon makes my brain hurt. Thanks!
(Also, are free proxies safe? Heard some sketchy stuff…)
