Hey! Had the same issue with firefox proxy last week. Turns out my firewall was blocking the SOCKS5 connection.

Try disabling your firewall temporarily to test. If it works, add an exception for Firefox.

Also, check if your proxy provider supports SOCKS5—some only do HTTP.
