Proxy and reverse proxy—what’s the diff and when to use each?
Hey folks, kinda confused about proxy and reverse proxy. Like, I get that a proxy sits between *me* and the internet, hiding my IP and stuff. But a reverse proxy...? That’s for servers, right?
So:
- Proxy = client-side, hides *your* traffic.
- Reverse proxy = server-side, hides *backend* servers.
But when would I actually use one over the other? Like, if I’m just tryna browse privately, obv a normal proxy. But if I’m running a website, reverse proxy for load balancing?
Kinda lost tbh. Anyone got a simple breakdown or real-world examples?
(Also, sorry if this has been asked a million times—tried searching but the answers were all super technical.)
Thanks!
