"Newbie question: What is an http proxy server, and how does it help with privacy?"
Hey folks, kinda new to this whole proxy thing and got a dumb question lol.
So like, *what is an http proxy server* exactly? From what I gather, it’s kinda like a middleman between my device and the internet? It hides my IP and fetches stuff for me, right?
But how does it *actually* work? Does it just forward my requests or does it do more? Also, how’s it different from a VPN?
And most importantly—does it *really* help with privacy, or is it just for bypassing geo-blocks?
Sorry if this sounds basic, but google’s explanations are way too technical. Appreciate any simple breakdowns!
