Hey folks, I keep hearing about forwarding proxy vs reverse proxy, but tbh, it’s all a bit confusing. Like, aren’t they just... the same thing?
From what I *think* I get:
- A forwarding proxy sits in front of clients (like your browser) and hides *them* from the internet. Good for privacy or bypassing restrictions.
- A reverse proxy sits in front of servers and hides *them* from clients. Think load balancing or SSL termination.
But when would you actually pick one over the other? And why do some people act like it’s rocket science?
Also, anyone got real-world examples where one totally saved your butt? Or is this just theory nonsense?
