What is the use of a proxy server on Kodi, and do I really need one?

Hey guys, quick question: what is use proxy server on kodi? I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about it, but I’m not sure if it’s something I *need* or just extra fluff.

Like, does it actually make a difference for streaming? Or is it just for people who wanna hide their IP or something? I’m not super techy, so I’m kinda lost here lol.

Also, if I *do* need one, any recommendations? Or is it overkill for casual Kodi users?

Thanks in advance! 🙏
