I switched to static ip last year for my security cameras (remote access), and tbh, it’s been a mixed bag. Yeah, it’s stable, but the extra cost adds up.

For most people, dynamic ip + a good router (like one with built-in DDNS) is plenty. Unless you *need* static, don’t bother.

Pro tip: Use a tool like WhatsMyIP to check how often your dynamic ip actually changes. Mine barely does, so static wasn’t worth it.
