I’ve had ip renew fix slow speeds before, but only if the issue was DHCP-related. If it’s hardware or ISP problems, nah.

For disconnects, I’d check router logs (if you can access them) or use a tool like NetSpot to see if Wi-Fi interference’s the issue.

Also, if you’re on Wi-Fi, try Ethernet just to rule out wireless problems. Sounds obvious, but it’s easy to overlook.
