I’ve been using Shadowsocks for my mini proxy needs, and it’s been great. It’s lightweight, fast, and super easy to set up.
It’s not exactly a traditional proxy, but it works similarly and is way more reliable than some of the other tools I’ve tried. Plus, it’s free and open-source.
