"Can Someone Explain Public IP Address vs Private IP Address in Simple Terms?"
Hey everyone! So I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the whole public ip address vs private ip address thing, and I’m still a bit confused. Like, why do we even need both?
From what I get, a *public ip address* is like your home’s street address—it’s how the internet finds your network. But a *private ip address* is more like room numbers inside your house—only your router cares about those.
For example, your phone’s private ip might be 192.168.1.5, but your whole house shares one public ip. Makes sense? Kinda?
Also, why can’t we just use public ips for everything? Is it cuz there aren’t enough to go around?
