How to properly use curl_init for a GET request in PHP? or Why is my curl_init GET request not workin

Sometimes the SSL cert fails silently. Add:
```php
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
```
But only for testing! Disabling SSL checks in prod is a bad idea.
