"Having trouble with a POST request from curl—any tips?"

Hey folks, I’m trying to send a post request from curl, but it’s not working like I expected. I’m using something like:

```bash
curl -X POST https://example.com/api -d "key=value"
```

But the server keeps throwing errors or just ignores it. Am I missing something obvious?

I’ve tried adding headers like `-H "Content-Type: application/json"` when sending JSON, but still no luck.

Also, how do you handle authentication? Do I just slap on `-u user:pass` or is there a better way?

Any help would be awesome—feels like I’m banging my head against the wall here!

Thanks in advance!
