Public vs Private IP Address: What’s the Difference and Why Does It Matter?
Hey everyone! So I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the whole *public vs private ip address* thing, and honestly, it’s kinda confusing at first.
From what I get, a public IP is like your home’s street address—it’s how the internet finds your network. But a private IP is more like your room number inside the house—only used locally.
Why does it matter? Well, if you’re setting up a server or gaming, you might need a public IP. But for most home stuff, private IPs keep things secure and save addresses.
Anyone else struggled with this? Or am I totally off? Lol.
(Also, sorry for any typos—typing this on my phone!)
