"Public and Private IP Addresses: How Do They Actually Work in a Home Network?"
Hey everyone! So I’ve been trying to wrap my head around public and private ip addresses, but it’s kinda confusing. Like, why do we even need both?
From what I get, the *public ip address* is what the internet sees—like your home’s "mailing address." But the *private ip address* is what your router gives to your devices (phone, laptop, etc.) inside your network.
But how do they talk to each other? Does the router just... translate or something? And why can’t everything just use a public ip address? Seems like it’d be simpler, lol.
Anyone got a *simple* breakdown? My brain’s fried from googling this all day. 😅
