"Newbie Question: What Is HTTP Proxy?"
Hey guys, total noob here trying to figure out what is http proxy. Like, I’ve heard people talk about it, but I’m still kinda lost.
From what I gather, it’s like a middleman between your device and the internet? So instead of connecting directly to a website, your request goes through this proxy server first.
But why tho? Does it make things faster, or is it just for privacy? And how does it even work? Like, does it hide your IP or something?
Also, when would someone actually *need* one? For streaming, security, or just bypassing restrictions?
Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I’d love a simple explanation. Thanks in advance!
(Also, if anyone has recs for free proxies, lmk. But pls no sketchy stuff lol.)
