So, I keep hearing about "what is an http proxy server" but I'm kinda lost. Like, is it just a middleman for your internet traffic? How does it *actually* work?
From what I gather, it sits between you and the websites you visit, kinda like a filter. It hides your real IP, which sounds great for privacy, but does it slow things down?
Also, why would someone *need* one? Is it just for bypassing geo-blocks or does it help with security too?
