Meh, I don’t think a dedicated ip is worth it unless you’re running an e-commerce site or something high-traffic. Shared hosting is fine for most small blogs.
The speed boost? Minimal unless your shared IP is *really* crowded. And SSL works fine on shared IPs these days—thanks to SNI.
