"New to networking—what is dynamic dns and how do i use it?"
hey guys, so i keep hearing about *what is dynamic dns* but i’m kinda lost. like, my home ip changes all the time, and i wanna host a lil server for gaming or whatever.
from what i gather, dynamic dns (ddns) basically auto-updates your dns when your ip changes? so you can use a domain like *myserver.ddns.net* instead of memorizing some random numbers.
but how does it *actually* work? do i need special software or is it built into my router? and why would i even *need* this if i’m just messing around?
also, any good free ddns services? heard no-ip is decent but idk.
pls explain like i’m 5, lol. thx!
