Yo, so I'm tryna set up a sock proxy for some extra privacy, but man, the options out there are overwhelming. Free ones seem sketchy, and paid ones... well, idk who to trust.
Anyone got a solid sock proxy they’ve been using without issues? Preferably one that doesn’t slow my connection to a crawl.
Also, if you’ve got tips on setting it up properly (like, do I *really* need auth or can I skip it?), drop ‘em here.

Okay, dumb question maybe, but how’s a sock proxy different from, say, HTTP or HTTPS proxies?
I get that it’s more versatile, but like... *how*? Does it just handle all traffic better, or is there some magic sauce?
And why do people swear by it for secure browsing? Lowkey confused here.
