"Can someone explain what dynamic dns means for home networking?"
Hey all,
So I keep hearing about dynamic dns means but I’m kinda lost. Like, my home IP changes all the time, and I wanna access my stuff remotely without memorizing new numbers every week.
From what I gather, dynamic dns means it automatically updates a domain name when my IP changes? So I can just type something like "myhome.ddns.net" instead of tracking the IP?
But how does it actually work? Do I need some special software or router settings? And is it safe?
Would love a simple breakdown—tech stuff isn’t my strong suit lol.
Thanks!
