"Reverse vs Forward Proxy: Which One Should You Use and Why?"
Hey folks! Been scratching my head over reverse vs forward proxy lately. Like, when do you even use each?
From what I gather, a *forward proxy* sits in front of clients (like your browser) and hides *you* from the internet. Good for bypassing restrictions or keeping things private.
A *reverse proxy*, though, sits in front of servers. It’s like a bouncer—handles traffic, load balances, and hides your backend. Think Cloudflare or Nginx.
But when to pick which? Forward if you’re the client trying to stay sneaky. Reverse if you’re running a server and wanna keep it safe + fast.
Am I missing something? How do y’all use ‘em? Drop your thoughts!
(Also, anyone else mix these up constantly? No? Just me? 😅)
