Are Pool Socks Really Necessary for Protecting Your Pool Equipment?

Wow, thanks everyone for the detailed replies! I didn’t expect so many people to swear by pool socks. I think I’m gonna give them a try, especially since they’re not too expensive.

I checked out PoolSupplyWorld and Amazon like some of you suggested, and there are a ton of options. I’ll probably grab a couple and see how they work with all the leaves I’ve got.

One quick follow-up though—do you guys use them year-round, or just during certain seasons? I’m in a place where we get a lot of debris in the fall, but not much in the summer. Just curious if it’s worth keeping them on all the time.

Thanks again for all the advice!
I was skeptical about pool socks at first too, but after trying them, I’m sold. They really do help keep the pump basket cleaner and reduce clogs. I’ve noticed a big difference in how often I have to clean out the basket now.

They do get gross after a while, but they’re easy to clean. Just rinse them out with a hose and let them dry. I’ve had mine for about 3 months now, and they’re still holding up fine.

If you’re on the fence, I’d say give them a shot. They’re not expensive, and they can save you a lot of time and hassle.
