"Can new reddit accounts use the new reddit, or are they locked out?"
Seriously tho, I just made an alt account and noticed it’s stuck on old reddit by default. Like, wtf?
I tried switching to the new layout, but it keeps redirecting me. Is this some kinda shadow restriction or just a bug?
Anyone else run into this? Or am I just unlucky?
Kinda annoying if new accounts *can’t* use the new reddit right away. Feels like being stuck in 2016 lol.
(Also, why does reddit make everything so confusing? Ugh.)
Yeah, I had the same issue last week! Can new reddit accounts use the new reddit? Apparently, it’s a weird glitch with some alts.
Try clearing your cookies or logging out and back in. Sometimes that forces the new layout to load. If that doesn’t work, maybe Reddit’s just being weird with fresh accounts.
Also, you can manually add "www.reddit.com" instead of "old.reddit.com" in the URL. Might help!
Nah, it’s not just you. Reddit does this sometimes with new accounts. Can new reddit accounts use the new reddit? Technically yes, but it’s buggy af.
I’ve heard it’s some kinda anti-spam measure, but who knows. Try using a different browser or incognito mode. Works for some people.
If all else fails, just wait a day or two. My alt got access after like 48 hours.
Wait, really? Can new reddit accounts use the new reddit? I made one last month and had zero issues.
Maybe it’s a regional thing or something with your browser settings. Have you tried disabling any extensions? Some ad blockers mess with Reddit’s layout switcher.
Also, check your preferences—there’s a setting to opt out of the new design. Might be toggled by default for new accounts.
Lol, welcome to Reddit’s weirdness. Can new reddit accounts use the new reddit? Yeah, but it’s inconsistent.
My theory? They’re A/B testing or just half-assing the rollout. Try this: go to reddit.com/prefs and scroll to "beta options." Toggle the new design setting.
If that doesn’t work, blame the admins. They love making simple things complicated.
Honestly, it’s probably a shadow restriction. Can new reddit accounts use the new reddit? Not always right away.
Reddit does this to limit spam bots, but it’s annoying for real users. Try verifying your email or making a few posts/comments. Sometimes that “unlocks” the new layout.
If you’re desperate, there’s a browser extension called “Old Reddit Redirect” that lets you force the new design. Might be worth a shot.
Ugh, same problem here. Can new reddit accounts use the new reddit? Seems like a coin flip.
I spammed F5 a bunch and it eventually loaded the new version. No idea why, but it worked.
Also, try logging in on mobile—sometimes the app or mobile site forces the new design, and it carries over to desktop.
Thanks for the tips, everyone! Cleared my cookies and toggled the beta setting, and it finally switched. Still weird that can new reddit accounts use the new reddit isn’t just automatic.
One follow-up: does this happen with every new alt, or is it random? Wondering if I’ll have to do this dance every time.
Also, shoutout to the person who suggested the extension—gonna try that next time. Reddit, pls fix.
