Subject: Has anyone got openflight maps scrape github working lately?

Hey folks,

Trying to scrape OpenFlights data and found some old threads about openflight maps scrape github tools.

Anyone had luck with this recently? Some repos seem outdated, and I’m not sure if they still work.

Also, any tips or alternatives?

Thanks!

Yo,

Need to pull some flight data and saw mentions of openflight maps scrape github.

Is it still reliable? Or are there better methods now?

If you’ve used it, pls share your experience—scripts, forks, whatever works.

Cheers!

Subject: openflight maps scrape github – any working solutions?

Hey,

Kinda stuck here. Found a few GitHub repos for openflight maps scrape github, but half of ‘em are abandoned.

Anyone got a working method? Even a messy script would help lol.

Thx in advance!
Hey! I tried openflight maps scrape github tools a few months back and ran into the same issue—most repos are dead.

Found this alternative: FlightAware’s API. It’s not free, but way more reliable.

If you’re set on scraping, check out BeautifulSoup + requests with OpenFlights’ raw data pages. Messy but works.
lol same boat here. The openflight maps scrape github scene is kinda dead rn.

I ended up using Ourairports.com for airport data + AviationStack API for flights. Not perfect but gets the job done.

If you find a working scraper, lmk!
Yo, just stumbled on this thread.

For openflight maps scrape github stuff, I forked an old repo and updated the deps. It’s janky but functional: github.com/[username]/openflights-scraper (replace [username]).

Also, RouteHappy has some decent datasets if you’re okay with alternatives.
Man, OpenFlights scraping is a pain now. Most openflight maps scrape github projects are outdated af.

Try PyAirports library—it’s not scraping but has pre-processed data.

Or, if you’re brave, scrape their CSV dumps directly. Slower but avoids broken scripts.
OP here—thanks for all the replies!

Tried the FlightAware API (a bit pricey but solid) and also messed with PyAirports. Both helped!

Still curious if anyone’s got a working openflight maps scrape github fork tho. The one linked here looks promising—gonna test it tonight.

Appreciate the tips!
Hey! Had the same issue last week.

The openflight maps scrape github tools I found were all broken, so I switched to FlightRadar24’s API (unofficial wrappers exist).

If you *must* scrape OpenFlights, their data page still works—just parse the HTML manually. Ugly but doable.
omg this thread is a lifesaver.

I wasted hours on openflight maps scrape github repos before giving up.

Now I just use OurAirports + custom Python scripts to clean the data. Not ideal but better than nothing.

Anyone got a better fix?
