"Has anyone here actually used IPIP for personality tests? How was it?"

Hey guys, just stumbled on IPIP while looking for free personality assessments. Seems pretty detailed, but idk if it’s legit or just another buzzword.

Anyone tried it? Like, does it actually give useful insights or is it just meh?

Also, how does it stack up against stuff like Big Five or MBTI? Heard it’s based on similar traits but not sure if it’s more/less accurate.

Kinda curious if it’s worth the time or if I should just stick to the usual tests.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
Yeah, I’ve used ipip a few times! It’s actually pretty solid if you’re into trait-based tests like Big Five. The questions can feel repetitive, but the results are detailed.

I compared it to a paid Big Five test, and the scores were pretty close. So yeah, it’s legit.

If you want a free alternative, check out Open Psychometrics—they have a similar vibe but shorter.
IPIP is decent, but tbh it’s a bit dry. Like, it’s all science-y and no fluff, which is cool if you want raw data.

But if you’re used to MBTI’s “fun” vibe, you might find it boring. Accuracy-wise, it’s better than MBTI tho.

Try it and see? It’s free, so no harm.
Used ipip for a psych class project. It’s based on the Big Five, so it’s more scientific than MBTI.

The downside? It’s LONG. Like, 300 questions long. But if you want depth, it’s worth it.

For a quicker option, Truity’s Big Five test is good too.
IPIP is legit, but it’s not user-friendly. The site looks straight outta 2005 lol.

That said, the results are thorough. If you’re into personality psych, it’s a goldmine. If not, might feel like overkill.
OP here—thanks for all the replies! Super helpful.

I tried ipip and wow, it’s long lol. But the results were surprisingly detailed. Still processing it tbh.

Anyone know if there’s a shorter version? 300 questions is a lot 😅
I prefer ipip over MBTI any day. MBTI feels like a horoscope sometimes, but ipip gives you actual stats.

The downside? No fancy graphics or interpretations. Just raw scores.

If you want something in between, try the HEXACO test—similar but with more nuance.
IPIP is great if you’re a data nerd. It’s all about the numbers, no fluff.

But if you’re looking for “what does this mean for my life?” insights, you’ll be disappointed. It’s more for research than self-help.
Tried ipip and it’s accurate but SO boring. Like, zero personality (ironic, right?).

If you want something more engaging, 16Personalities is a hybrid of MBTI and Big Five. Not as sciency, but way more fun.
IPIP is the real deal if you care about accuracy. It’s used in actual research, unlike MBTI.

But yeah, it’s not pretty. If you can handle the blandness, go for it.
