"Help! How Do I Connect to a Proxy Server Online?"

Hey guys, I'm totally lost here. I need to use a proxy for... reasons (*cough* Netflix region locks *cough*), but I have no clue how do I connect to a proxy server online.

I tried googling, but half the guides are outdated or way too technical. Like, why do I need to mess with IPs and ports? Can't it just... work?

If anyone’s got a simple step-by-step for Windows or even a phone, pls share! Bonus points if it’s free (or cheap).

Also, is there a difference between a proxy and a VPN? Cuz I might’ve mixed them up lol.

Thanks in advance! 🙏
Hey! If you're wondering how do I connect to a proxy server online for Netflix, I’d recommend using a free proxy extension like Hola or Proxy SwitchyOmega (for Chrome).

Just install, pick a country, and boom—you’re done. No IP/port nonsense.

But heads up: free proxies can be slow or sketchy. For better speeds, try a cheap VPN like Windscribe (they have a free tier too). And yeah, VPNs encrypt your traffic, while proxies just reroute it.
Lol I feel you—proxies can be confusing af. For Windows, here’s the quickest way:

1. Open Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
2. Toggle "Use a proxy server" and enter the IP/port (find free ones on sites like hidemy.name).

But tbh, if it’s for Netflix, just get a VPN. Proxies get blocked often. NordVPN has a 30-day refund policy if you wanna test it.
Proxies vs VPNs? Big diff. VPNs are safer but slower. Proxies are faster but risky (some log your data).

For how do I connect to a proxy server online on phone, try Turbo VPN (free on Android/iOS). It’s technically a VPN but works like a proxy for region unlocks.

Or, if you’re techy, set up a SOCKS proxy—google "free SOCKS5 list" and follow a guide.
Dude, skip proxies for Netflix. They detect and block them FAST. I wasted hours before switching to Surfshark VPN.

But if you’re set on proxies, check out KProxy.com. No install, just visit their site, pick a server, and browse. Super easy for beginners wondering how do I connect to a proxy server online.
OP here! Wow, thanks for all the replies—did NOT expect this much help!

Tried KProxy like someone suggested, and it kinda worked? Buffering was awful though. Might just cave and get Surfshark since y’all say VPNs are better.

Quick Q: If I use a VPN, do I still need to mess with proxy settings? Or does the app handle everything?

Thanks again! 🙌
Free proxies? Yikes. Most are packed with ads or malware. If you *must* use one, try Hide.me’s proxy (they’re semi-trustworthy).

For how do I connect to a proxy server online on Windows:

- Press Win + R, type "inetcpl.cpl", go to Connections > LAN settings.
- Check "Use proxy server" and paste the IP:port.

But seriously, spend $3/month on a VPN. Safer and less hassle.
