"Hey guys, quick question – can DuckDuckGo show your IP address?
I was trying to duckduckgo know your ip address earlier, but I’m not sure if it’s possible. Like, does it just pop up somewhere or do I need to type something specific?
I know other sites do it, but I’d rather use DDG if I can. Anyone got a trick for this?
*Also, kinda random but… does it even matter if DDG shows it? Like, is it safer?*
Thanks in advance! 🦆"
*(PS: sorry if this is a dumb question lol)*
Nah, DuckDuckGo doesn’t show your IP directly like some other sites. If you wanna duckduckgo know your ip address, you’d have to use a third-party site or tool.
Try typing “what is my ip” in the search bar—it’ll usually pull up a snippet from sites like whatismyip.com or ipinfo.io.
As for safety, DDG itself doesn’t track you, but those other sites might log your IP. If you’re paranoid, use a VPN before checking.
Lol not a dumb question! DDG doesn’t have a built-in IP checker, but it’ll show results from other sites if you search for it.
For example, just search “my ip” or “ip address” and it’ll display it right there in the snippet.
But yeah, it’s not any safer than other sites since the IP is coming from those external sources. If you’re worried, maybe use Tor or a VPN?
Hey! So DuckDuckGo itself won’t display your IP, but it can help you find it super quick.
Just type “duckduckgo know your ip address” or “what is my ip” in the search bar. It’ll fetch results from sites like ipleak.net or whatismyipaddress.com.
Safety-wise, DDG doesn’t track you, but those other sites might. If privacy’s a big deal, consider masking your IP first.
Kinda weird DDG doesn’t have this built in, right? But yeah, you gotta rely on other sites.
Searching “what’s my ip” on DDG will show it in the top results—usually from sites like ipchicken.com or myip.com.
Does it matter? Eh, not really. Your IP’s already out there unless you’re using a VPN or proxy. DDG just keeps your searches private.
Nope, DDG doesn’t show your IP directly. But if you duckduckgo know your ip address, it’ll pull up external sites that do.
Try “my ip” or “ip lookup” and you’ll see it in the preview. Sites like whatismyip.xyz or iplocation.net usually pop up.
Safety? DDG’s private, but those sites aren’t necessarily. So if you’re hiding your IP, this isn’t the way lol.
OP reply:
Wow, thanks for all the replies! Didn’t expect so many tips. I tried searching “my ip” like some of you said, and yeah, it showed up in the snippet from some random site.
Follow-up question though—if I use a VPN, will those IP-checking sites still see my real IP? Or does the VPN hide it completely?
Also, lol at the “not a dumb question” comments. Appreciate it! 🦆
Short answer: No. Long answer: DDG doesn’t host an IP checker, but it’ll give you results from sites that do.
Search “duckduckgo know your ip address” or just “ip” and you’ll see it in the snippets. Common sites are whatismyip.org or ip2location.com.
Is it safer? Not really—your IP’s exposed either way. DDG just doesn’t store your search history.
