"Do You Know Which US States Have the Most YouTube Users?"

Hey y’all! So I was just scrolling through YouTube (as one does) and it got me thinking… which us states most youtube users?? Like, who’s binge-watching the most cat videos or whatever?

I feel like Cali and Texas gotta be up there just ‘cause they’re huge, but what about smaller states? Maybe Utah ‘cause of all the family vloggers? Lol.

Anyone got actual stats or just wild guesses like me? Also, does population even matter or are some states just *way* more obsessed?

Drop your thoughts—I’m curious!

(Also, low-key wondering if my state’s in the top 10… no shame.)
Oh man, this is such a fun question! I did some digging, and yeah, California and Texas are *definitely* up there for us states most youtube users—no surprise there. But get this: per capita, Utah and Alaska actually crush it!

I found this tool called Google Trends that lets you compare states by interest in YouTube. Also, Pew Research has some wild stats on digital habits.

Smaller states can totally punch above their weight if they’ve got a big creator scene or just really bored winters lol.
Lol I love that you brought this up! I swear, every other person in Utah is a family vlogger or a DIY guru.

For actual stats, check out SEMrush or SimilarWeb—they track traffic sources by region. Population matters, but engagement is key. Like, maybe Rhode Island isn’t huge, but if everyone’s glued to YT, it could rank high per capita.

Wild guess: Florida’s gotta be up there too… all those retirees and meme lords.
Okay, so I *might* have gone down a rabbit hole on this. According to some analytics sites (think Statista or SparkToro), the us states most youtube users are usually the most populated ones—Cali, Texas, NY.

But! If you adjust for population, Vermont and Oregon sneak into the top 10. Maybe it’s the rainy days?

Side note: anyone else notice how many gaming channels are from Ohio? Random but true.
Fun fact: YouTube’s own data studio (free tool btw) lets you filter by geography. Not sure if it breaks it down by state, but you can get close with metro areas.

My bet? States with younger populations or big college towns dominate. So like, Massachusetts (hello, Harvard binge-watchers) or Colorado.

Also, shoutout to Nevada—what happens in Vegas stays on YouTube, apparently.
Population totally plays a role, but culture’s a bigger deal imo. Like, us states most youtube users might skew toward places with strong creator communities (LA, Austin) or just… not much else to do (no offense, Wyoming).

Tool rec: Try VidIQ or SocialBlade—they sometimes have regional insights. And yeah, Utah’s a *machine* for family content.
Wow, y’all came through with the stats! I had no idea about the per capita thing—Alaska and Utah are *wild*. Def gonna check out Google Trends and Pew Research later.

Also, the Ohio gaming channel observation? Spot on. Makes me wonder if internet speed plays a role too… like, do states with better infrastructure watch more?

Thanks for the recs—this thread low-key became a rabbit hole I didn’t know I needed.
Dude, I *need* to know if my state’s in the top 10 now.

Quick Google search says Cali, Texas, and Florida lead for raw numbers, but per capita? Alaska and Hawaii are *obsessed*. Makes sense—what else you gonna do on an island or in the tundra?

Pew Research has a cool breakdown by age too—maybe that’s why some states rank higher?
