So, I’ve been trying to scrape Twitter data for a project, and man, it’s been a rollercoaster. 😅 Anyone else struggling with this in 2023? I’ve tried a bunch of tools, but some are hit or miss.
Like, I used this one tool to scrape Twitter, and it worked fine for a bit, but then Twitter updated their API, and boom—everything broke. 🙃 Anyone got a solid method that’s still working?
Also, is it just me, or is scraping Twitter data getting harder every year? I’ve heard mixed things about web scraping vs. using APIs, but idk which one’s better rn.

Scraping Twitter is def a pain these days, ngl. I’ve been using Octoparse for a while now, and it’s been pretty solid for me. It’s not free, but it’s worth it if you’re doing a lot of data scraping.
Twitter’s API changes are brutal tho, so I’ve also been using a combo of DIY Python scripts with BeautifulSoup and Selenium. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it, it’s super flexible.
If you’re looking for free tools, check out ParseHub. It’s not perfect, but it’s decent for smaller projects.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I’ve been trying out Octoparse and it’s been working pretty well so far. Still getting the hang of it, but it’s def better than what I was using before.
I’m also curious about the Twitter API v2—has anyone here used it for large-scale projects? I’m a bit worried about the rate limits, but it sounds like it might be more reliable than scraping.
Also, has anyone tried using proxies with their scraping tools? I’ve heard mixed things about whether they help with avoiding bans.
